Cost of Living in Milan for International students
The cost of living in Milan Italy depends on the person but here are the main things that you will be spending money on during your time here:
Housing in Milan (monthly)
Shared apartment in Milan €600+
Student Residence €750+
Private Flat in Milan on rent €900+
Renting private flat with Rental Milan, prices include really all expenses, it makes it simple to know how much you spend on housing in total.
Plus all of the apartments we rent, are fully equipped so you don’t need to spend extra to buy kitchenware etc. or use laundrymats.
When you rent an apartment in Milan from others, make sure to understand which bills are included in the total rent price because total cost for extra expenses can be €300+ monthly.
Most importantly, check if the heating is condominium or autonomous and see if condo expenses are included because:
Condominium heating
Gas bills are small, because you consume only for cooking and to heat up water.
Autonomous heating
You need also to heat the house whit gas.
Its normal to spend yearly:
€400+ for studio apartment,
€800+ 1 br apartment,
€1200+ 2 br apartment.
– Electricity €30+, at least double if you have gas hob and/or electric,
– Internet €30,
– Garbage tax around €200 a year per person.
Groceries €300+ monthly
There is always a supermarket close by and with our fully equipped kitchens you are not forced to eat out everyday.
Eating out
If you choose to eat the amazing food here you could find yourself eating a really good full meal for only € 10+ or just order it to your home with many delivery apps we have.
Apperitivo €10+ from 7-9pm, you need to order a drink (alcoholic or not) and can eat for free, mostly finger food but it can count as full dinner! 😉
Shopping
Milan is known for its high fashion world wide so you will probably end up wanting to buy clothes here, there are many outlets like: ilSalvagente. Discounts on clothes can range from -30-70% depending on what you like.
Local cellular number
SIM card is about €10 + €10+ monthly for rechargeable SIM (no need for an contract), just bring your passport.
Public Transport
1 time entry in metro, single ride ticket (90 minutes): €1.50 / daily €4.50.
All students (and people under age of 26) can get a monthly transportation pass for €22 + €10 electronic card (one time).
Students over 26: €35.
Trips / Vacations
Milano has lot of history but is a good hub to visit:
– other Italian cities easily with fast trains, €20-150 round trip.
– other European countries with cheap direct flights, €30-200 round trip.
So cost of living in Milan Italy per month will be from
minimum €1000+ whit shared flat,
€1500+ with private apartment,
total €2000+ when eating out and travelling.
NB! It is always good to have cash and have extra money in case of emergencies.
